Respark on Loveline – 9/1/20 Cuckolding and Hotwifing
On September 1st, 2020, Respark Founder, Heather McPherson was featured on Loveline with SHA Advisory Board Member and good friend, Dr. Chris Donaghue. If you’re not familiar, Loveline with Dr. Chris is a daily radio show on the weekdays that discusses all things mental health, sexuality, and social justice. Dr. Chris Donaghue is a certified sex therapist in Los Angeles, and on his show he discusses all issues around sex, dating, and relationships in our current society.
On this episode, Respark founder and director Heather McPherson was featured to discuss hotwifing and cuckolding! Together Dr. Chris and Heather discuss another recent article she was featured in about cuckolding and hotwifing. (read the article here: https://www.thebody.com/article/jerry-falwell-jr-cuckholding)
Heather explains the difference between cuckolding and hotwifing as the two often get confused. Cuckolding today is often focused on the male or male-identified individual and his desire to be humiliated. Hotwifing is typically related to a “wife”, one that is so hot and so desired that they can be satisfied by other partners when the partner isn’t able to satisfy her. Heather likes to encourage this kind of exploration if it’s something you’re into – whatever brings depth to your relationship is what the goal truly is. Dr. Chris asked Heather about how she would advise bringing this into a relationship that is typically monogamous. Heather advises that open and clear communication is key in this dynamic. It can be really scary to talk about our fantasies with other people, especially our partners in fear of what they might think. Dr. Chris says, “sex and pleasure is supposed to be fun. Sex gets to be like dessert. It shouldn’t be something that makes people feel bad!”
The other piece Dr. Chris wanted to highlight using Heather’s female-identified voice, is the females’ experience around these topics. Heather mentioned that there is enjoyment that can come from seeing your partner with someone else, and with both hotwifing and cuckolding, there is a huge factor about female empowerment where the wife is in charge, and she is being desired. This gives the woman a lot of the power. In fact, for the last decade, Heather has seen a lot more females than males bringing this to the table.
