Danita Davis
LMFT, SHA & AASECT CST
Hi, I’m Danita Davis, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with certifications through the Sexual Health Alliance in sex therapy and kink-informed care.
Many of us enter relationships without a shared language for our needs, boundaries, or desires, and we’re often surprised by how quickly love can turn into misunderstanding, exhaustion, or disconnection. I do this work to help people better understand themselves in relationship, communicate with clarity and compassion, and build connections that feel both intimate and sustaining.
I believe intimacy and individuality are not opposites. You shouldn’t have to disappear to stay close, nor distance yourself to feel autonomous. Whether you’re navigating desire differences, attachment patterns, conflict cycles, or questions around sexual expression and identity, my goal is to support you in finding ways of relating that honor who you are without shame, pressure, or self-abandonment.
I joined ReSpark Group because I value being part of a thoughtful, forward-thinking community of sexual wellness professionals. Being surrounded by colleagues who share a commitment to ethical, inclusive, and relationally informed care allows me to stay curious, grounded, and continually learning, so I can offer clients the most attuned and supportive work possible.

Therapy Style and Approach:
- My therapy style is collaborative, experiential, and relational. I believe meaningful change happens not only through insight, but through practicing new ways of relating in real time, at a pace that feels supportive and respectful. I integrate attachment theory, compassion-focused therapy, mindfulness, multicultural perspectives, and cognitive-behavioral approaches, tailoring our work to each client’s values, goals, and lived experience. Emotional safety, curiosity, and openness are central to my work, especially when addressing sensitive or complex relational dynamics. I help individuals and couples develop a shared relational language that allows them to name deeper needs, longings, fears, and unmet desires beneath conflict or disconnection, particularly when communication has become painful or exhausting.
Some Issues Danita is Passionate About:
- I am deeply passionate about helping individuals and couples navigate relationship and communication challenges, particularly when patterns of disconnection, overfunctioning, or emotional imbalance have developed over time. Much of my work focuses on attachment dynamics, including avoidant attachment patterns, and the ways these patterns shape intimacy, desire, and emotional closeness. I am especially invested in supporting clients as they explore sexual health, sexual expression, and desire differences, while honoring diverse relationship structures and identities. I care deeply about helping people cultivate relationships that allow for intimacy without self-abandonment and independence without emotional distance.
Education Details:
- I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), licensed to practice in both California and Colorado. My professional education and clinical training are grounded in relational work, communication patterns, attachment-based approaches, and the complex emotional dynamics that arise in intimate relationships.
Trainings/Workshops/Conferences Danita has Attended:
- I hold certifications through the Sexual Health Alliance in sex therapy and kink-informed care, which allow me to work competently and respectfully with a wide range of sexual expressions, identities, and relationship structures. I am committed to ongoing professional development and regularly engage in learning focused on attachment-based therapy, compassion-focused approaches, mindfulness-informed interventions, multicultural and inclusive clinical practices, and cognitive-behavioral therapy.
Personal Interests, Hobbies and Some Fun Facts:
- I have a deep curiosity about how people connect, communicate, and grow together over time. I often say that everyone has a relationship resume, even though most of us were never trained for the role and I believe therapy offers a space to learn and practice those essential relational skills. I value lifelong learning, thoughtful conversation, and self-reflection, and I’m especially drawn to discussions around identity, intimacy, and authenticity.
