How Respark® Therapy Was Created

Timeline of events For Respark Founder, Heather Mcpherson.

2011: Heather launched a private practice in Austin, Texas.
-A solo private practice

2012: The private psychotherapy practice became a group practice and was renamed Respark® Therapy and Associates in Austin, Texas.

2013: Group Practice in Austin grows to 8 clinicians.

2015: Heather launches Sexual Health Alliance providing much-needed sex therapy training and sex education training to all healthcare providers.

2018: Heather launched Respark® Therapy and Associates in Denver, Colorado. Heather travels back and forth between Austin and Denver. Respark® Therapy and Associated grows the Denver psychotherapy office to 4 clinicians.

2018 – Heather launched the Certification program through the sexual health alliance – providing a certification training program to 3 tracks:
-Sex Educator
-Sex Counselor
-Sex Therapist

2019: Heather teams up with Amanda Jepson to launch the Respark® Foundation:
-Respark® Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit serving Austin, Dallas, Denver, Colorado Springs and LA areas. At Respark,® Foundation services offered include individual therapy, relationships therapy, online coaching, group therapy, local and worldwide support groups, and retreats.

2020: Respark® therapy & Associates starts offering medication management through Katherine Van Noy, PMHNP. Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners are advanced practice registered nurses trained to provide a wide range of mental health services to patients and families in a variety of settings. Respark® now offers medicine management appointments through Katherine.
Respark® therapy & Associates now offers online therapy to all of Texas and Colorado and has 14 providers.

2020: POTL – Heather launches podcast which includes progressive ideas to grow and scale your sexuality practice. At POTL, professionals and people ready to jump into the professional world can discover how people are making a difference in the field of sexual health while earning a living.
