GTK (Getting to Know) Austin Respark Sex Therapist, Vielca McBride

Vielca grew up under the education of a psychiatrist (her dad) that promoted critical thinking since she was a child. Her upbringing and the combination of natural curiosity led her to question the ambiguity of how sex is presented in our society. Sex is promoted everywhere from social media to shows to advertisements. However, accessible spaces to safely and accurately learn about sexual health are almost non existent.

 

Vielca started studying sexuality in 2001 and now holds a license in psychology from the University of Costa Rica with a focus on sexuality and masculinity. She became passionate to bridge that gap and promote healthy sexuality. She is attending the Sexual Health Alliance Sex Therapy Certification Program.

 

Vielca offers therapy in Spanish and English. She is also a yoga instructor and her interest in mindfulness led her to become an avid meditator and a Tantra practitioner. 

 

Currently Vielca is the facilitator for the Sexual Health Alliance book club. Recently, she enjoyed Come As You Are, the workbook by Emily Nagoski as it brings practical tools to improve intimacy. Extraordinary lovers by Peggy Kleinplatz is her next book which is the September conference for Sexual Health alliance.

I wonder what would happen if when people experience pleasure they would say “YES, to more pleasure.”
