Caroline Lee – More About

As a therapist, my primary goal is to hold a space for my clients that is safe, encouraging, and judgment-free. I believe that to create this space I need to bring compassion and empathy, kindness and honesty. I use an integrative and holistic approach to therapy that meets the client where they are. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is crucial to the healing of the client, and I utilize Emotionally Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, narrative therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy in ways that will best serve the client and their needs. I also utilize a systemic lens with my clients so that we can consider all the factors that may be impacting their distress – from relationships within the home all the way through the values that are upheld by the world in which they live. I believe that therapy allows people to uncover strengths and resources they often never noticed and that in therapy, we can create a new path forward that includes those strengths.

How did I come to sex therapy?

When I was an undergrad, I began selling sex toys through a multi-level marketing company. I was excited and energetic about talking to vulva owners. I was raised in south Louisiana where people DO NOT talk about sex- so the prospect of talking frequently and explicitly about sex. Sexuality and sexual health thrilled me. However, I quickly learned that my role was not just selling sex toys but also educating vulva owners about their genitals, orgasms, sexual health, etc. That was when I first started exploring the idea of becoming a sex therapist. While I had known since I was 16 that I wanted to be a therapist, I wanted to specialize in everything in the realm of therapy and could not seem to focus on one area. The more I learned about sex therapy, the hungrier I got about working in this field. Once I got into graduate school for my Masters in Counseling degree, I immediately became a member of AASECT so that I could start learning towards my sex therapy certification. I’m thrilled to be working for Respark as it is a dream come true.

Me Outside of Therapy

I’m a multi-passionate individual! I love crafting (knitting, crocheting, and needlecraft), powerlifting, hiking, reading, baking, and gardening. I’ve recently started dabbling in oil paints but have previously enjoyed working with acrylics. I also know how to play several instruments including piano, guitar, violin, and clarinet.
