Welcome! Respark is a confidential, all-inclusive, group psychotherapy practice serving clients online and from offices in Denver, Colorado and Austin, Texas

We are a team of highly-specialized therapists with a combined 40+ years of experience serving our clients’ individual and relationship needs. We provide the most up to date and effective therapy because our clinicians are highly trained in relationship issues as well as sexuality issues. At Respark Therapy, we commit to a judgment-free, compassionate and authentic relationship with you through every twist and turn of your journey.

Religion is one of the most common reasons individuals and couples seek out sex therapy. While our faith is important to many of us, it can instill elements of shame and fear when it comes to sexuality. Seeking out sex therapy can help to chip away at preconceived ideas around sex that our religion has taught us. This can give you a sense of freedom within your sex life and over time allow you to no longer look at sex in a shameful or negative light.

Common issues around religion that bring clients to sex therapy can include:

  • Getting comfortable talking about sex
  • Understanding the personal issue around sex
  • Navigating the stigma around sexuality
  • Exploring sexuality
  • Religious shame and guilt around sex and sexuality
  • Destigmatizing sex or our sexual identity
  • Finding one’s own sexual interests and desires
  • Relieving shame or fear around sex
  • Gain understanding of how sex and religion can co-exist
  • Understanding how your religion plays a role in your life from a non-biased standpoint

want a therapist that is knowledgeable and affirming?

Some of our clients  just need a therapist that won’t judge or maybe a therapist that just “gets it.” Respark Therapists have some of the most advanced, up-to-date training specifically in sexuality, and they’re here to sit and talk with you about your experience without adding any pressure. Our goal is to be compassionate and affirming. They understand your faith is important to you and want to create a safe space for religion and sex therapy to co-exist.

The Importance of Acknowledging Religion in Sex Therapy

Religion, especially when born into it, can shape how we perceive many elements of our life, including sex. This can cause us to struggle with our sexuality either individually or as a couple. Having a therapist that understands that religion is something to address during sex therapy will help you get to the root of that shameful thinking and allow you the ability to change your views or to better navigate your relationship with sex. We also are able to address sexual identity in sessions as well. Many religions may not be affirming of your sexual identity but that doesn't mean that you have to feel shame around it. We are here to help you understand how faith has played a role in these pre-conceived notions and how to adjust them to a kinder, more loving view of yourself.  At Respark, our therapists are highly skilled and trained in sexuality issues, including religion and sex therapy.
