Top Three Benefits of Online Therapy

Top Three Benefits of Online Therapy

By Clinical Manager Taylor Spaziani

Through the season of covid-19, the pandemic rocked most of our worlds transforming a lot of our daily lives to an online format. School, work, doctors appointments, therapy appointments, all of our personal worlds are now being accessed from our computer screens at home. For many of us, this came to be a serious challenge to overcome and adjust to. Through many hardships and having to adjust to what seems to be our new normal, many silver linings have been outlined from living a more virtual life. From talking with multiple clients every single day, I have gathered themes from what I hear to be the top three benefits of online therapy, including what came from my own personal experience being in therapy 100% virtually now!

Top Three Benefits to Online Therapy:

  • Convenience

Many of us would attend therapy in the evenings when we get off work, on our lunch breaks, or on the weekends as our busy daily schedules forced us to schedule therapy after our weekly priorities. With telehealth therapy, people can now schedule therapy during their breaks from work or while the kids are napping and never have to leave their house! Many of us would spend an hour in traffic after work to get to our therapy sessions and not get home until late. With telehealth therapy, we have totally eliminated this commute time!

  • The Comfort of Our Own Spaces

Something wonderful about telehealth is that we’ve opened up a totally vulnerable and private part of our spaces to our entire work teams, classmates, doctors and therapists. Therapy is a vulnerable process, and sometimes being able to have your pets around or a comfy blanket or your favorite pajamas for your therapy session can be extremely comforting and therapeutic to your healing and processing.

  • Connectedness

Although we are physically separated from our screens, in some ways we are more connected than we ever have been. People who are long distanced to us we can see instantly with a click of a button. This concept works in therapy, too! For example, my personal therapist in Colorado decided to make a major life change and moved to Portugal with her partner. Because she is still licensed in Colorado, instead of having to switch therapists and start a new journey with another therapist, I was able to continue seeing her – even from the other side of the world!
