CASE-CONSULTATIONS WITH A RESPARK THERAPIST

For those with cases that might need an additional set of eyes, you can now contact a Respark therapist for case consultations. Whether you are another therapist, a medical doctor, or a counselor, sometimes certain cases need specialized care that our expertly trained therapists can offer. Our therapists bring a cumulative 40+ years of experience and certain specialized approaches to topics like “sex addiction,” polyamory and relationship diversity, and problem sexual behaviors.

Respark believes that we as therapists and educators need to challenge the concept of sexual addiction and explore a different model of sexuality. We do not support CSAT (Certified Sex Addiction Therapist) programs or agree that compulsive sexual behavior or problematic sexual behavior is empirically supported and do not promote the language we deem to be shaming.

SUPERVISION FOR RESPARK THERAPISTS

To become an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist, the applicant must have completed a minimum of fifty (50) hours of supervision with an AASECT Certified Supervisor of Sex Therapy. Of those, 20 hours of individual supervision must be completed with a Primary Supervisor.

With this in mind, all Respark therapists are internally supervised by AASECT Certified Supervisor, Heather McPherson. The goal of supervision is to improve the professional by putting emphasis upon the enhancement of clinical skills and the continuation of the educative process. The presentation of sex-related case materials that utilize direct observation is encouraged during your supervision meetings.
