Practice Outside the Lines Podcast | Episode 1

In partnership with Practice Outside the Lines and Sexual Health Alliance, we are excited to introduce to you a podcast all about the business of sexual health! Respark’s very own, Heather McPherson, is the host of the Practice Outside the Lines Podcast where she interviews some of the people who are working at the leading edge of sexuality. From sexual health providers, sex therapists, sex coaches, sex educators and other sex entrepreneurs, this podcast has it all!

The very first episode features world-renowned clinical psychologist and media sexpert, Dr. David J. Ley where he talks all things media. David shares stories about his media experiences with the Dr. Phil Show, The Daily Show and even a time when he helped a journalist discover a fake necrophilia expert. David and Heather also discuss how journalists have changed the process in which they vet their sources due to experiences similar to the fake necrophilia expert and how to talk with journalists as a sexuality professional. 

Additionally, David shares advice on how to effectively and accurately communicate as a sex educator in order to make an impact on audiences and emphasizes the importance of it.

“When we are being that ‘sexpert’ when we are offering this information we have to remember that we are educating, we are educators and that it’s important to give that information accurately and effectively to give it in a way that the audience can receive it”
