Becoming a Certified Sex Therapist with Sexual Health Alliance

WHY OUR RESPARK THERAPISTS ARE CERTIFIED SEX THERAPISTS

All of our therapists at Respark are either in training to become a certified sex therapist, or they already have been certified for years. Sexual Health Alliance provides the most up to date training and education to all of the Respark Team. Many therapists have little to no training in how to talk about sex. This means that any given couples therapist has zero formal education in how to bring up gender, sexuality or orientation in the therapy room. Many graduate programs have no courses that discuss this information. Some will discuss relationship diversity like open relationships for just one hour. Several of our clinicians at Respark go on to specialize certain topics like kink/BDSM or consensual non-monogamy (CNM which includes open, polyamorous and swinger relationships) at the Sexual Health Alliance. These specialized certifications are year long programs that include research, webinars, assignments, live lectures and projects. Gathering continuing education credits, supervision hours, and anything else you might need for certification can require years of additional coursework after graduate school.
