Why the PRIDE Movement is Important

Back to Pride

The month of June is Pride month and this year I was invited to send in a video about my experience! Pride occurs in the United States to commemorate the Stonewall riots, which occurred towards the end of June in 1969. As a result, many pride events are held during this month to recognize the impact LGBTQ+ people have had in the world.

Pride is important to me because authenticity is important to me. I think that being authentic in today’s world full of copy and pastes is an absolute radical act, and I’m here for it! If you want to even make the slightest change in helping your community, I think the simplest way to do so is by embracing your own and each other’s authentic identities, sexual orientations and gender identities. Happy PRIDE!
